Waste Management made a significant investment in the plant and equipment and as a result, our Union Grove facility can handle from a any size from a 1-quart container to a 30-yard roll off. Our patented continuous-flow retort oven is designed to process up 1,000 lbs. per hour of flowable mercury contaminated powders and other solids. Our four stationary retort ovens can process, on average, twenty-seven 55-gallon drum equivalents per batch, allowing us to handle a wide variety of big, hard-to-handle wastes such as large pieces of contaminated equipment including, pipes, tanks and arc valves.

All processing is completed under EPA, OSHA, and State agency operating guidelines and our systems are regularly audited and approved by numerous Fortune 500 and hazardous waste management companies.
WHY MERCURY WASTE IS REGULATED
Not only is mercury a threat to our quality of life when it is not properly recycled, it can also be a significant threat to the overall health of your business. Local and state environmental regulations and EPA enforcement of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), regulate the generation, treatment, storage, handling, clean-up, transportation and disposal of hazardous wastes, including products which contain mercury. Mercury-containing lamps, batteries, and medical and electrical equipment and devices are regulated as Universal Wastes.
Your company may be at risk of severe financial penalties, criminal prosecution and long-term liability if Mercury-containing products are improperly recycled.
