Macroencapsulation Services

Hazardous wastes require handling and disposal by proven experts. Waste Management's hazardous waste services lead the industry in safety, reliability and technical sophistication while maintaining full compliance with all local, state and federal environmental regulations. Waste Management's excellent track record allows us to offer you the industry’s best hazardous waste indemnification package coupled with the economies of scale that come from working with North America's largest environmental services organization.

For the safe and permanent disposal of hazardous wastes meeting the RCRA definition of debris, Waste Management offers macroencapsulation services. Macroencapsulation involves placing your hazardous debris in a one-piece containment unit made from high-strength HDPE specially formulated to resist contaminants and leachate. A pozzolanic, flowable solid material such as fly ash or cement kiln dust seals the debris and fills any void spaces remaining inside the unit. After a lid is placed on top and the unit is heat-welded shut, the treated debris is placed in one of our Subtitle “C” landfills for safe, permanent disposal.

Macroencapsulation is appropriate for virtually any hazardous debris that fits in a 20-cubic-yard roll-off box.

Macroencapsulation ensures that your hazardous waste is permanently isolated from the surrounding environment, including rain water, leachates, and any other materials in the surrounding landfill.

Macroencapsulation is currently available at our Subtitle C landfills in:
